Reserving Saranam
Saranam Retreat Center welcomes religious and non-religious organizations for group and personal retreats, ceremonies, meditation, yoga, healing arts workshops, writing, environmental education and awareness, and other beneficial activities. We especially welcome non-profit organizations dedicated to the benefit of others to hold board meetings and retreats at Saranam.
Saranam is located in Montrose, West Virginia, on 54 acres of woods and pasture. The main building’s ground floor includes a living/dining common room, fully equipped kitchen, library, large screened-in porch, zendo (meditation/teaching hall), bathroom, small private consultation room, and cloakroom. Covered porches with comfortable seating surround the building. The second floor offers dormitory-style sleeping quarters, a few private rooms, and two bathrooms. The retreat can comfortably lodge 18 people. Up the hill in the woods is the Hermitage, a 10x14’ heated cottage with a bed and desk, as well as a covered porch.

Outside, decorative gardens flank the main building, and beyond are large fields (some are used by a local farmer for cattle or horses), a forested hill with walking trails, a small creek, a gated green cemetery, and a stupa (a monument for inner and outer peace).
